Yep, folks, Ive just returned from seeing Tim Burtons (and co.) 9. Ever since I first saw his Nightmare Before Christmas as a wee little one, Ive been an eager fan of his work (though admittedly never saw much else from him until much later). So as you can imagine, I was hyped up as hell when I heard of his list of movies to be released for the next handful of years, which included 9. I was interested in it when I first read about it, but after seeing the trailer in theaters my interest levels in it peaked out all the way to the top. And I wasnt disappointed: The movie is grim, dark, and sharp on the edges (literally), but action-packed with stunning visual graphics for everything, right down to the tiniest little speck of detail. The character voices were
well, moderate to me (but then Im never the best judge when it comes to voice work), but the characters themselves were extremely well-made, being fleshed out stitch-by-stitch, each possessing a personality different and unique from the last. The story was well-crafted, deep, and perhaps not even that far off from what our own future will be like. And as for the machines, well
lets just say that their rendered, realistic design was enough for me to nearly jump out of my seat in terror.
So, to anyone who is a fan of Tim Burton, whether a newcomer or a devotee (or someone who likes dark, pitch-black machine monsters that terrorize a forlorn world), I highly recommend this movie to you, as it possibly could become one of his best stop-motion films.
ZOMG, this makes me want to do some 9 fanart now.

I'm a big Nintendo fan. But is liking both the Mario and Sonic games really a big crime to Nintendo? Nope. I didn't think so.
Also, check out my Gallery! I hate to sound desperate but....please?
…Okay, okay.
The first level is a pain to deal with (le-duh), at least for beginners. Your best bet to clear it is to move as quickly as you can through it. This is where learning to master Pit’s jumping is the basis of beating the game. The best technique for mastering it is this: When you’re jumping, and especially when you have to deal with those ridiculously inch-short stepping stones, press UP while in midair; this will slow down Pit’s traction when he lands so that he doesn’t slip and fall off the platform. Precise timing is crucial, since if you’re even one pixel short of the platform, you’re dead. (And by golly, if you think this stage is bad, wait until you reach the second level’s second stage.
Occasionally on your progress you’ll run into rooms that contain shop keepers, who sell ridiculously retarded items (well, not all of them but some of them) at insanely high prices, as well as the uncommon black marketer (who’s not due until the later levels), but one room in particular you should look out for is Zeus’s room. He has two different kinds of rooms: a power-up room and a training room. In the power-up room, he will regard your current score of points, and if deemed that you have enough will grant you an arrow that will double your current strength and change Pit’s outfit into a hideous shade of green that does not unresemble Master Belch. Get these arrows. While it’s possible to complete the game without need of the power-ups, it sure helps to make the game easier to beat the more power-ups you have, especially against the bosses and later stage enemies. Fighting as many enemies, especially the tougher ones, is essential to obtaining the points needed to earn these power-ups—but be careful not to overdo it and end up dying. If you really need a good place to train for these points, my advice is to get up to the first fortress, go into a room with nothing but a snake pot, and fight the snakes that infinitely spawn out until you’ve racked up enough points to gain all the power-up arrows. (Note that the snake pots in the field levels respawn only a finite number of times.)
In Zeus’s training room, it’s more a matter of endurance, since Zeus will send forth an endless spawn of flying mirrors that move far too quickly for you to really effectively “kill”. (Leaving is an option, though if you try to you’ll be rather uncouthly insulted.) If you succeed, Zeus will give you a choice of three items: The Fire Arrow, the Holy Bow, and the Guard Crystal. You may choose any of the three, but whether you can use it or not depends on how many power-up arrows you’ve obtained. (The Fire Arrow is the least power-up-requiring one, with the Holy Bow coming next, and the Guard Crystal following last.) Having all three of these makes the game much more of a breeze to get through, though be warned that in the second and third levels lie thieving enemies that not only steal your hard-earned training rewards but cannot be killed.
…This is all the advice I can give for now; I have to get off.
